JOB TITLE: Caseworker

TYPE: Salaried; Exempt

SUPERVISOR: Chief Operations Officer – WTBR

JOB SUMMARY

To work with children in care and their families to ensure maximum growth in all spheres of a boy’s life. Identify strengths and weaknesses and develops plans of action. Monitors growth. Ensures boys that are admitted are appropriate for care and develops/participates in plans to ensure the highest quality of care is afforded to each boy and his family.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social science field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience or have a Masters Degree in a social science field
  • Must have extensive knowledge of TDPRS and WTBR standards.
  • Must have knowledge of TDFPS Child Care Facilities Licensing Standards
  • Demonstrated people skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must relate well with children, parents and fellow employees
  • Needs to have an understanding of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect, trauma, and the impact of out-of-home placements of children
  • Advanced knowledge of assessment skills, case management, dynamics of human behavior, casework principles, and crisis intervention

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with WTBR activities, programs and special events as needed
  • Participate in marketing and referral development activities
  • Conduct intake screenings as needed
  • Serve as a professional representative of WTBR in all areas of community relations and networking activities
  • Complete a required minimum of 20 hours of annual training including but not limited to:
    • Psychotropic Medication
    • Trauma Informed Care
    • Awareness & Reporting of Child Abuse
    • SATORI Aggression Management System
    • Transportation Safety
    • CPR/First Aid/AED
  • Monitor cottages on weekly bases to ensure that TDPRS standards are met.
  • Be an advocate for the residents in such a manner that their best interests are served
  • Serve as primary source of contact with parents in reporting progress, problem areas, incidents, and arranging for visitation and home visits
  • Coordinate meetings to include Cottage Parents and resident’s parent/guardian for Plan of Service development and reviews
  • Develop and implement Plans of Service in accordance with WTBR and TDFPS requirements and monitor to ensure completion
  • Design and implement a case management plan for each boy
  • Arrange for therapy services with outside providers, sending relevant materials and communicating progress and needs with case management team
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of significant events for each boy on caseload. These should include Caseworker Progress Notes, serious incidents, therapy notes and progress reports that meet or exceed TDPRS standards.
  • Provide written summaries and requests to physicians regarding psychotropic medication needs and changes
  • Monitor school performance regularly and provide interventions as needed, both at the Ranch and at the public schools
  • Meet at least weekly with each resident assigned to caseload.
  • Compile written information regarding incidents/serious incidents/abuse situations reported by residents or staff as required by law and TDFPS standards
  • Make routine phone calls to parents to report on resident’s progress and discuss areas of concern
  • Attend weekly cottage meetings and provide input into the case management of assigned residents
  • Provide supportive services to Cottage Parents by serving in a consultant role regarding behavior, service planning and community services

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position has Exempt status and requires a 40-hour workweek, typically Monday - Friday. However, due to the many demands of boy care, additional / flexible hours and days will be required. Some out of town and overnight traveling is required. This position also requires 24-hr on-call responsibilities for a one-week period which is shared on a rotating basis with four other employees.
