    POSITION 25A28 TITLE: Department Head (Combined CTE and Fine Arts)
    LOCATION: Cameron High
    QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications will include having a valid WV Teaching Certificate and being employed full time at the school where the service is to be rendered. Applicant must also demonstrate leadership and communication skills.
    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Coordinate the program of studies for the areas assigned including relevant curriculum maps, benchmark assessments, instructional materials adoption, specific equipment, and other pertinent components.
    2. Meet regularly with teachers within the departments to share information related to the content areas curriculum and instruction and school related information.
    3. Meet regularly with other department heads and the principal and assistant principal responsible for curriculum to discuss school related issues and to develop and implement cross curriculum strategies to improve student achievement especially in areas of weakness as identified by the V State Testing Program, ACT Plan and Explore results, benchmark data and other relevant data sources.
    4. Facilitate and organize curriculum mapping and formative assessments and work with professionals in the assigned areas to use data to improve student achievement.
    5. Analyze, disseminate and discuss the results of the WV State Testing Program developing department and cross curriculum strategies to improve student achievement.
    6. Coordinate and assist with co-teaching.
    7. Lead committees that promote and enhance articulation among departments and feeder schools and encourage smooth transitioning for students between classes, grade levels and schools.
    8. Provide leadership and support for colleagues in content knowledge, classroom management and organization, increased student achievement, continuous improvement process, grading, and other issues related to teaching and learning.
    9. Attend relevant school and county meetings and training sessions.
    10. Assist in development of the master schedule in the content areas of responsibility.
    11. Coordinate all purchases in the content areas of responsibility.
    12. Assist with dual credit, advanced placement, and programs that encourage student completion of high school and attendance in post-secondary education.
    13. Compile, organize, and maintain files related to audits and reviews.
    14. Provide leadership and support in the areas of responsibility.
    15. Establish and implement a continuous improvement program in areas of responsibility.
    16. Establish good relations among department professionals, with other department heads and school administrators.
    17. Maintain professional work habits.
    18. Maintain and upgrade professional knowledge and skills
    19. Perform other duties as assigned according to the needs of the department and administration.

    EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2024-2025 school year with anticipated start date of September 11, 2024. (Normal contract: 200 days).
    SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule located at https://boe.mars.k12.wv.us/mcs-salary/. Currently $1,725.
    TO WHOM RESPONSIBLE: Principal of school
