About the Role: The Shipping Coordinator will directly report to the Shipping and Logistics Manager and will play a vital role in the operations of the Shipping and Logistics Department. The primary responsibility will be to coordinate long-haul trucking activities with in-house and contracted trucking companies. Additionally, you will help coordinate Western Extrusions shipping demand with trucking fleet to ensure proper shipping schedules are followed.
Your Responsibilities:
- Coordinate trucking activities for Western Extrusions.
- Arrange and coordinate backhaul activities.
- Maintain monthly shipping reports.
- Keep tags, permits, and general maintenance up to date on company trucks.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
- Complete administrative requirements in a timely manner.
- Review production orders/shipments and update daily schedules as it relates to delivery appointment times.
- Respond to and resolve scheduling issues.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Report all unsafe activities to supervisors and the Safety Department.
- Prepare daily scheduling order requirements to complete shipping schedules.
- Communicate with downstream departments to ensure all plan dates are met.
- Maintain knowledge of product allocation procedures along with the process used to determine customer orders available for shipment.
- Adhere to all safety and quality guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment including but not limited to adhering to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements, immediate incident reporting, and adherence to both Safety Cardinal Rules and Quality Cardinal Rules, among others.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team.
What You Will Bring:
- High school diploma or an equivalent amount of education, training or experience will be considered. Knowledge of the trucking industry highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform in a complex fast-paced manufacturing environment safely while managing multiple priorities required.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Products (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Ability to work weekends and overtime, as needed required.
- Ability to perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above.
- Promote, support, and enforce ISO 9001 standards as they apply to the facility.
Work Environment: Responsibilities are carried out in both indoor settings and in the plant, an unregulated environment that experiences extreme temperatures and high levels of noise, including but not limited to other uncontrollable factors.
