Our practice consists of 3 full time and 3 per diem pathologists, and covers a wide area throughout Northern Nevada and Northeastern California. The laboratory receives a wide variety of hematopathology and solid tumor cases, as well as biopsies, including head & neck, GYN, breast, lung, GI, GU, derm specimens, etc. With a population of over 235,000, Reno is the largest city in Northern Nevada and boasts a rich history. We are nestled on the eastern slope of the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains in an area called the Truckee Meadows, at an elevation of 4505 feet. In this role, you will: Perform a vital part of the patient care process through preparation, gross description, and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards Champion safety, compliance, and quality control All you need is: Bachelor of Science or Masters Pathologists' Assistant program from a NCCLS accredited institution 1 year of laboratory experience grossing all tissue types from simple to complex is preferred Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists BOC Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, microscopes, and audible alarms.
