Western Wayne Family Health Centers is Hiring a Child Psychologist Near Inkster, MI

Purpose: The responsible child psychologist will diagnose and treat a variety of mental disorders or behavioral problems in children aged 17 and younger. The child psychologist will have a broad understanding of common symptoms and how they can be controlled through talk therapy, play therapy, and prescription medication. This will be attained by providing individual, group, and family therapy. The psychologist will participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning. PART I: ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTION AND DUTIES

1) Conducts psychological assessments and tests for diagnostic purposes.
2) Develops an individualized treatment plan for each child.
3) Educates family members on what they can do for their child or how to respond to certain behaviors
4) Determining when additional treatment is necessary (support groups, etc...).
5) Provides complete documentation and records of assessments and treatments according to in–house policies.
6) Teaching and consultation, providing in-house training in specific topics and areas of interest for behavioral
health, substance abuse, and medical.
7) Conducts integrated biopsychosocial and psychiatric protocol, provides child and family therapy, and
participates in integrated huddles with the care team.
8) Provides group therapy – psychoeducational and clinical groups, in addition to curriculum development.
9) Working with a psychiatrist or other caregivers if further medication or treatment is necessary.
Overall, specific functions and duties include but are not limited to:
1. Provides individual, group, and family therapy.
2. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
3. Develops an annual comprehensive psychosocial assessment.
4. Provides crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team.
5. Participates in the peer-review process for the therapist.
6. Provides pre-screening for depression, anxiety, and other psychological disorders.
7. Diagnoses psychological disorders.
8. Conducts psycho-social assessment.
9. Make referrals to other agencies and psychiatrists as appropriate.
10. Manages patient appointments.
11. Schedules patients with the psychiatrist and preps patient chart for a visit.
12. Prepares documentation for patient files.
13. Completes electronic charting in EMR.
14. Attends integrated meetings.
15. Completes superbills and electronic billing.
16. Completes patient charts.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

d. Required to work closely with patients and associates.
e. Interacts with other departments on problem issues.

f. Accepts feedback from patients, visitors, clinic employees, physicians and general public.
3. Continuous Improvement:
a. Continuously looks for and suggests ways to improve.
b. Effectively completes assignment to achieve the greatest benefits at acceptable cost.
c. Implements improvements as appropriate.
d. Demonstrates interest in own growth and development by:
i. Periodically evaluating own performance.
ii. Demonstrating an awareness of personal abilities and limitations.
iii. Independently seeking means to make improvements.
e. Attends and participates in in-services and continuing education programs.
f. Attends departmental meetings.
4. Communications:
a. Keeps appropriate people informed.
b. Speaks and writes clearly, concisely, and appropriately for need.
c. Listens carefully.
d. Communicates tactfully.
e. Understands that all confidentiality and privacy considerations are respected and fostered at work
and off duty.
5. Self –Management:
a. Presents a positive image of Western Wayne Family Health Centers at all times.
b. Carries out assignments with little need for direction.
c. Timeliness.
d. Maintains confidentiality.
e. Provides proper notification of absence and tardiness.


PART III: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE

Psy.D or Ph. D in clinical or child psychology and licensed to practice in the state of Michigan.
Several years’ practical experience working with children in a clinical setting preferred.
Must be approachable and empathic for children to be comfortable working with you.
Must be knowledgeable of different therapeutic methods and be able to switch between different approaches to
meet each child’s needs.
Excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate with children of different ages and
from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Adhere to all professional, ethical, and legal regulations as determined by relevant regulatory bodies and the
law.
Willingness to attend team meetings, as well as seminars on topics relevant to our client base.


PART IV: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1. Knowledge of health care administration systems.
2. Knowledge of governmental regulations and reimbursement requirements.
3. Knowledge of computer, systems, and applications.
4. Skilled in planning, organizing and supervising patient care.
5. Skilled in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, decision making.
6. Skilled in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients
and the general public.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs
8. Skilled with working in a complex work environment
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and maintain organizationally appropriate relationships.
10. Knowledge of organization policies and procedures.
