Job Overview
Westfield Friends School is a Preschool 2 through Eighth Grade School. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our educational team. The School Nurse will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of students, ensuring a safe learning environment, and providing necessary medical care. This position requires a strong understanding of the school nurse role in an elementary and preschool setting, pediatric medicine, pediatric patient assessment, and emergency medicine. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Essential Functions
- Conduct health assessments and screenings for students to identify potential health issues.
- Evaluates all complaints of injuries and/or illnesses referred by teachers, aides and parents.
- Provide immediate care for injuries and illnesses that occur during school hours.
- Administer medications and manage chronic health conditions in students.
- Collaborate with lead school nurse, teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to develop individualized health plans.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with school policies and HIPAA guidelines.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, utilizing knowledge of emergency medicine as needed.
- Participate in the development of school health policies and programs as needed
- Keep the Head of School informed of any student needs or concerns that may exist within a school.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the Head of School may assign.
Qualifications
- Must be a licensed registered nurse with experience in a clinical or educational setting.
- Must have experience working with children spanning the ages of the school.
- Familiarity with Magnus Health Online Record System a plus
- Familiarity with Level I Trauma Center protocols is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in medical terminology to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
- Experience in patient assessment and care is necessary for providing quality medical attention to students.
- Understanding of emergency medicine practices is highly desirable.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations is mandatory.
License/Certification:

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
