Job Description

General Summary Of Duties:

As the Beverage Development Manager at Westgate Resorts, you'll lead the creation, presentation, and maintenance of diverse cocktail offerings across all food and beverage outlets. Crafting seasonal menus, staying abreast of trends, and upholding quality standards are paramount. Your expertise in mixology, coupled with a knack for creativity, will ensure guests enjoy unforgettable libations. Ideal candidates possess extensive knowledge of both classic and contemporary cocktails, a dedication to hospitality, and a flair for crafting memorable drinking experiences.

Qualifications

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

• Develop unique and innovative cocktail recipes incorporating the latest mixology
trends.

• Create seasonal and themed cocktail menus to keep offerings fresh and exciting.

• Ensure consistent cocktail quality through regular taste tests and feedback
sessions.

• Assist in the production of cocktail garnishes to maintain high presentation
standards.

• Train bar staff on new recipes and ensure operational efficiency for easy
replication.

• Oversee employee performance and provide necessary training to enhance 
skills.

• Assist with cocktail photography for promotional purposes.

• Promote Westgate cocktails via social media and through positive word of
mouth.

• Gather feedback through reports, social media reviews, and staff input to
continually improve the cocktail menu and guest experience.

• Monitor and manage inventory of spirits, mixers, and other bar supplies.

• Work with the Beverage Director to source and recommend new products and
ingredients.

• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the best quality and price.

• Ensure the beverage department operates efficiently and productively.

• Keep a current list of all beverage costs and analyze reports to control costs and
enhance revenue.

• Be present and involved in all major events involving beverages.

• Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and corporate liquor regulations,
particularly regarding alcohol service to minor and intoxicated guests.

• Promote responsible alcohol service practices.

• Report suspicious activities or hazardous conditions to supervisors, Security, or
Safety personnel.

• Provide guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or emergency situations.

• Ensure compliance with State and Corporate gaming regulations pertaining to
minors in gaming areas.

• Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.

• Understanding of liquor laws and responsible service practices.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to read and
utilize math skills for scheduling and budget administration.

• Ability to effectively deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will
require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect
accurate information and solve customer concerns.

• Ability to act independently while analyzing data and drawing conclusions from
written and computer-generated materials.

• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction,
instruction, and guidance to staff. Assign and instruct all personnel in details of
work. Observe performance and encourage improvement. Monitor workload
and make staffing adjustments accordingly.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language clearly to
ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal
instructions and to provide clear direction/guidance. Ability to relate to all
levels of management and employees in verbal/written form.

• Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy
hotel activity, serving as a role model for other employees. Resolve
complications and complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation
and the most effective solutions. Make decisions and take action based on
previous experience & judgement, sometimes revising procedures to
accommodate unusual situations.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to complete
job requirements and communicate with other employees.

• Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision
and multiple interruptions.

• Ability to exercise judgement and implement control over the performance of
staff.

• Adheres to control procedure for beverage costs, labor costs and quality.

• Ability to deal with several problems requiring initiative and good judgement.

• Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform job function.

• Knowledge of labor law.

• Ability to access and input information using a moderately complex computer
system.

• Supervise all staff including training, counseling, and discipline.

• Knowledge of Beverage operations, to include appropriate staffing levels, service
equipment and guest relations.

• Mathematical skills necessary to analyze reports, prepare forecasts and
budgets.

• Listen & respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice,
answer questions and offer assistance giving accurate information.

• Ability to locate and report exceptions/variations to standard operating
procedures.

• Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee
and management inquiries/concerns using
a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions and/or offering assistance
giving accurate information regarding plans, policy or procedures.

• Respond to guest inquiries. Provide guest satisfaction through assistance,
direction, and information within hotel guidelines.

• Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.

• Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

• Typical physical / mental demands 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2 yrs. management experience in a beverage capacity.

Working knowledge of gaming operations and alcohol regulations a must.

Education Requirements

Highschool Diploma or GED Equivalent.
