Job Description

The position is responsible for maximizing Catering Events and Meeting Sales revenue through prospecting and other proactive sales activities. Responsible for the development of market segment(s) and solicitation of new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with corporate and social accounts.

Duties

  • Solicit and book catering business for banquets, Edge, and Drafts.
  • Secure private dining and in-room dining events.
  • Meet with clients to finalize all arrangements in detail.
  • Maximize revenues through upselling techniques.
  • Complete essential paperwork, forecasts, etc., to track departmental progress.
  • Assign suitable space for various functions (e.g., meetings, food and beverage).
  • Prepare banquet event orders and contracts accurately and on time.
  • Develop and update a list of target sources for solicitation weekly.
  • Solicit corporate catering through prospecting, sales blitzes, social media, and other resources.
  • Track and report leads that convert into bookings monthly, including catering revenue, room nights, and room revenue generated.
  • Collaborate as a team to reach budget goals.
  • Work within the Catering Department's guidelines.
  • Set appointments and make personal sales calls to key local catering business contacts, spending 6-7 hours per day on these calls.
  • Spend at least one day a week in Salt Lake making sales calls to high-end retailers and major companies.
  • Document all sales calls in SalesPro and generate daily lead sheets.
  • Attend weekly Catering Sales meetings to report on past efforts and future plans.
  • Review and re-solicit past business that has not returned, including workplace visits and lunch invitations.
  • Provide reports to the F&B Director and GM, including proposed, signed, and YTD revenue numbers.
  • Provide a weekly schedule for calls and site visits.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises team members in the location.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training and coaching team members.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Assisting in appraising performance and rewarding team members.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree GED.
  • The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Follow instructions without close supervision.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Required to pass a background screen, drug test, and prove eligibility to work in the United States.
  • 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
