Details Posted: 16-Jun-24 Location: Encino, California Type: Full Time Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 CategoriesVisual/Performing Arts The Media Arts Teacher and Media Arts Project Management position requires teaching Upper School Digital Arts classes (5 sections per term); and working with the Westmark Marketing and Communications Office to coordinate the coverage, production, direction, and execution of digital rich media marketing materials for the school. This position is three-quarters instruction and one-quarter marketing and communications. Additionally, this position is the designee in supporting all digital rich media related activities at Westmark School.General Westmark Faculty Responsibilities
Teach digital arts classes to students with language-based learning differences;
Have a high-level of understanding of special education terminology and research-based instruction;
Submit weekly lesson plans;
Integrate technology into the curriculum;
Maintain the digital class LMS pages;
Regularly update the grade book;
Provide quick grading turn-arounds for all students;
Use behavior management systems that are effective with students with language-based learning differences;
Provide a positive environment that encourages students to actively participate in their own learning;
Communicate on a regular basis with division directors, department chair, and advisors to discuss student progress;
Model professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, peers, and the community;
Cultivate positive family partnerships.
Participate fully in the life of the school which includes collaborating effectively and collegially with a teaching team, grade-level, and department;
Engage regularly in formal, ongoing professional development beyond school-based in-service;
Support colleagues and the school by substituting for absent teachers (when needed);
Participate in meetings, committees, and community gatherings;
Know, understand, and uphold the mission, philosophy and values of the school. All teachers contribute to the school mission and community with activities such as supporting student social-emotional learning, interest groups (clubs), social events, and grade level trips.
DIGITAL ARTS INSTRUCTION
Teach five sections of digital arts to upper school students;
Digital Arts includes photography, film, and broadcast media.
Oversee the development of the digital arts program for Westmark in alignment with the departmental and school goals;
Plan and implement digital arts curriculum;
Coordinate curricula with other department and grade level teachers;
Be a consummate professional that strives to bring the highest quality digital arts direction and instruction for Westmark families.
Participation in and attendance at all arts-based events including the Arts Showcase.
Create and produce the annual Westmark Film Festival.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS WORK
Works directly with the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications to evaluate, conceptualize, and deliver required digital arts materials.
Provide video and photographic coverage of on-campus, in-classroom, after-school athletics events and games, performing arts events, and other special project activities
Produce and deliver finished marketing and promotional videos, slideshows, and other rich media deliverables for the school, including general, admissions, marketing, development, advancement, alumni, social events, and other as required.
Projects may include support for all or a portion of the following events (determined by the advancement department):
Parent Orientations
Parent B.A.S.H.
Homecoming events
Divisional events and activities
Fall Play
Spring Musical
Gala
Prom
Grandparents’ & Special Friends Day
Graduations
End of year ceremonies
Other events and special projects as needed.
Provide video and photographic asset management, sharing, and organization for all assigned projects
