Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with occasional overtime and/or weekends
Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000
Travel: 10-25% may be required and/or dependent on business needs
Job SummaryThe IT Manager is a management position that will report directly to the Director of Information Technology. Professional team members are expected to uphold the highest standards of accountability, integrity and professionalism, Participating Employer focus, and system efficiency. The IT Manager position requires a strategic and forward-thinking leader to support the Director of Information Technology with looking to the future and actively seeking robust cloud-based solutions, advanced Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, and the roll out of Process Automation. This roll out include enhance automation, minimize manual tasks, and continue our focus to implement the right tools and solutions to provide secure and accurate benefits to our members.
Under general direction, the IT Manager manages team members within the Westport IT department. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing Westport’s IT systems and IT operational activities. The IT Manager will oversee the strategic planning, procurement, implementation, security, protocols, and management of Information Technology solutions in use by Westport and the IT operational activities associated with them.
In addition, this role will be tasked with coordinating the efficient and effective operations of Help Desk, including work direction and supervision of IT Help Desk Support Agents and coordination with other Team members and Information Technology staff. This position is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; documenting and gaining approval for all help desk support procedures and system documentation; and assisting team members in answering calls, addressing service or escalation issues, and applying independent decision making to resolve problems or escalate problems to management. Developing regular reports on help desk contacts, ensures that service levels are met, identifies trends and makes recommendations for service improvements, and provides budgetary recommendations to management for service growth and/or improvement. This position has authority to create operating procedures and practices for the Help Desk.
  • This role is currently deemed remote. However, it may move to an in office – position in the future. We reserve the right to evaluate all remote positions and may reassign them to mandatory in office.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee and assist in the daily operations of the IT Department to ensure the functionality, availability, and security of Westport IT systems, data, backups, and communications; troubleshoot and remediate issues that arise
  • Procure and manage IT equipment and professional services in accordance with Westport Procurement and Contracting Policy
  • Manage IT vendors, contracts and service level agreements and perform vendor audits
  • Manage information technology projects
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, timetables, budgets, and the reporting to Director of Information Technology
  • Develop department policies, process and procedures documentation and provide internal training to department and impacted end users
  • Ensure compliance of department and organizational polices
  • Participate in internal and external audits; oversee and coordinate responses to audit requests
  • Manage department team members, including performance and training assessments.
  • Assist in the development of IT staffing plan and professional growth
  • Manage IT department services and prepare management reports of department activities, tasks, and operational metrics
  • Will be expected to organize and lead quarterly department meetings, ensuring a structured and effective communication platform for team members.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights that analyze business functions and key operations and performance metrics.
  • Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to technology, budget and business within your department and design/implement solutions to meet these needs
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continued education, online/inperson training and attendance of educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, networking and participation in professional industry groups
QualificationsEducation / Experience
  • Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in Computer systems or similar field
  • IT Certification preferred but not required (CompTIA A certification, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Cisco certified network associate, etc.)
  • A minimum of 3 years or more of experience in a management or supervisory role is required.
  • Relevant years of work experience may substitute for the degree requirement
  • Knowledge of design, development, testing and implementation of enterprise scale apps
  • Understanding of SharePoint Designer, InfoPath, Web Parts and workflow creation
  • Proficient knowledge of understanding permissions, capabilities and responsibilities of SharePoint User: End Users, Power Users, Site Owners, Site Collection Administrators.

  • Must possess excellent presentations skills with the ability to deliver clear and engaging demonstrations to management.

  • Proactive, self-starter, goal oriented and ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Dynamics, SharePoint platforms including business intelligence tools such as Power BI
  • (If applicable) Ability to work flexible hours depending on various departmental project deadlines and/or Company events and sponsored programs (including a few late evenings and weekend events per year)
  • General office and telephone skills are required
  • Basic Computer Skills are required
  • Must maintain and hold a valid State Driver’s License (if driving for Company business for the role)
