We seek to amplify voices, foster understanding and strengthen connections within our community through trustworthy reporting, impactful storytelling and meaningful conversations.
Position Summary:The Community Engagement and Partnerships Manager will develop and execute strategies to build and sustain relationships with community stakeholders, partners and audiences through events and public conversations. This role will play a crucial part in expanding our reach, enhancing our impact and ensuring our content, programming and discussions reflect the diverse perspectives and needs of our community. Additionally, the person in this role will work collaboratively across departments to align engagement activities with broader organizational goals. This is a supervisory role.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Community Engagement
  • Develop and implement community engagement initiatives that foster dialogue and collaboration between WFAE and the community.
  • Organize and facilitate events, forums and public discussions to engage diverse audiences.
  • Serve as a liaison between WFAE and community organizations.
  • Partnership Development:
  • Help identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with local organizations, educational institutions and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partners to create events and projects that align with WFAE’s mission and goals.
  • Manage partnership agreements, ensuring deliverables are met and relationships are maintained.
  • Outreach and Promotion:
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies to increase awareness of WFAE’s work and attract new audiences.
  • Work with the news, programming, membership and corporate development teams to promote community engagement activities and partnership initiatives.
  • Represent WFAE at community events, meetings and other public forums.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration:
  • Maintain a company-wide calendar of WFAE events, discussions and other key initiatives
  • Assist the community engagement producer in collaboration with reporters, editors and producers to integrate community input into our news and discussion planning.
  • Support editorial and programming partnerships through engagement activities.
  • Help create and manage events and activities that support membership/major and corporate development goals.
  • Coordinate WFAE’s Community Advisory Board and other volunteers to support WFAE events and engagement activities.
  • Evaluation and Reporting:
  • Develop metrics and tools to evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement and partnership initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports on community engagement activities, partnership outcomes and audience feedback.
  • Use data and feedback to continuously improve engagement strategies and approaches.
Qualifications:
  • 5 years of relevant experience in community engagement, partnership development or related roles, preferably within a media, nonprofit or public service organization.
  • Experience managing teams and working successfully in matrixed environments.
  • Proven success in event budgeting, planning and implementation.
  • Strong marketing and promotion skills.
  • Proficiency in data and analytics.
  • Understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with digital media and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
