WFAE is Hiring a Week-end Host - Part Time Near Charlotte, NC
Immediate Opening: Weekend Host - Part Time for WFAEWFAE, the NPR station in Charlotte, is an award-winning multiplatform newsroom (radio, digital, podcasts, live events) committed to providing high-quality local news and engagement that meets the needs of our diverse community. The Weekend/Part-time Announcer exhibits the highest standards of excellence for WFAE programming. Hosting is warm and friendly and is adaptable to a variety of live and pre-recorded programs and automation. May assist supervisor on various platforms outside of functional area of responsibility as requested.
Announcer and board operator for regular program shift.
Participates in on-air fundraising as directed
Community Ambassador for WFAE
May provide fill-in support for other on-air or recorded announcer shifts as assigned
Education: Bachelor’s degree or 5 to 8 years of demonstrated experience in broadcasting, public speaking, or a related field is desirable. Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. Clear, engaging speaking voice with excellent ability to verbally convey the written word. Ability to work independently and diligently adhere to verbal and written instructions. Comfortable with digital technology and multiple software platforms, and quick to learn and adopt new skills. Availability to weekends and holidays. The standard shift for this role will be Sundays 2 to 6 pm Preferred Qualifications: Experience with public radio or related not-for-profit fundraising. Audio editing experience.
