FLSA Status: Exempt/Salary

Hours M-F 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
1 weekend a month

Location: Chesaning, MI

Salary Grade: Salary

Primary Function

Dispatcher roles includes, planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling drivers loads and equipment. Responsible for dispatching products safely and efficiently. Ability to work in fast paced environment. Maximize productivity and utilization of employees (drivers) and equipment (tractors/trailers) through communication and provide steps with safety and customer service.

Performance Responsibilities – Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Comply with all existing Federal, State, local and company requirements, rules and regulations
  • Verifying pick-up and delivery information
  • Resolve freight discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Educate drivers on company policies and procedures
  • Manages and monitors multiple systems to ensure adequate supply of capacity, on-time performance and problem resolution challenges are addressed and communicated timely.
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and profitability
  • Communicates with facility supervisor on any problems as they occur
  • Complete all required paperwork
  • Occasional evening and weekends work may be required as job duties demand
  • Reports all accidents and issues regarding personal safety and product safety to your supervisor immediately
  • Consistent and reliable performance and attendance is expected
  • Attends department, locations, conference calls and meetings when necessary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have at least 1-year experience as a trucking dispatcher
  • Willingness to comply with all company, local, state and federal regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette skills
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
