Continuous Improvement Manager

Whippany Actuation Systems is a dynamic aerospace company that designs and manufactures electromechanical actuators and control electronics for commercial and military applications. We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager to play a pivotal role in optimizing our manufacturing operations. In this role you will lead initiatives resulting in process improvement, productivity enhancement, waste reduction, and overall operational efficiency improvements. Additionally, you will drive accountability cross-functionally to improve productivity throughout the organization.

In this role, you would typically:

  • Lead the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Utilize methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and others to drive improvements across all areas of the manufacturing process.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization through data analysis, value stream mapping, and regular assessment of key performance indicators. Work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees at all levels on continuous improvement principles, tools, and techniques. Foster a culture of innovation and problem-solving by empowering team members to identify and implement improvements.
  • Lead and oversee major continuous improvement projects from inception to completion. Develop project plans, establish timelines, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure successful implementation and achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Monitor project plans and keep the company on track for exceeding annual productivity targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, quality, supply chain, finance and sales to drive alignment and consensus on improvement initiatives. Communicate progress, challenges, and successes to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

We require:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field
  • 3 years' experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or operational excellence roles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Change management experience, with a track record of successfully driving organizational change.
  • Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies and tools, such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, etc.
  • Authorization to work in the US

Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

We would really like to see:
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt highly desirable.
  • Experience in Aerospace Manufacturing Environments
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and operational excellence principles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment (MS Excel, MS Project, MS Powerpoint)
  • Strong focus and attention to detail
  • Time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task in a complex business environment
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Experience working with suppliers and customers
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to influence without authority

Physical Requirements Include:

Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work.

Ability to interact and participate in meetings.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for a significant period and maneuver around the facility as needed.

Manual dexterity, which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
