White Bay is Hiring a General Manager: Data Centre Operations Near Sydney, FL

Australian owned, Multi Award Winning Data Centre Provider are expanding their team with the addition of a General Manager of Operations.

Their certified strategic data centres are trusted by the biggest hyperscalers, the Australian Federal Government, and large multinationals to run and protect valuable data.

They provide the highest levels of security, sovereignty, service, and compliance. Due to an exciting stage of growth, they have this unique opportunity available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of facility engineers and security personnel responsible for a large, complex, and geographically dispersed Multi-Megawatt Tier III Data Centre environment.
  • Ensure high levels of availability while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee service delivery operations and participate in resource planning.
  • Investigate and implement changes, tools, and new technologies to enable the business to scale effectively and profitably.
  • Provide feedback and drive improvements in provisioning processes and automation, identifying product opportunities and limitations.
  • Ensure there is adequate training and product documentation.
  • Develop and maintain exceptional work health and safety protocols to ensure uninterrupted services to customers and the highest levels of EHSQ compliance.

Desired Skills and Attributes:

  • Relevant technical qualifications – Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Science.
  • 10 years of experience in the Service Provider/Data Centre industry is highly regarded.
  • Experience in managing data centre infrastructure and leading teams of skilled engineering personnel.
  • Proven ability in operational/process improvement and developing a team to operational maturity.
  • Experience managing complex delivery environments, including workforce forecasting.
  • Ability to translate technology solutions and concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to influence and drive outcomes across the company.
  • Expert problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex issues using varied resources and subject matter experts across multiple technology groups.
  • Ability to anticipate and build contingency plans.
  • Capability to work and manage people with perseverance and professionalism in high-pressure, time-focused situations.
