Qualifications Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program with a current license to practice in New York State Demonstrates interest in the special needs of geriatric patients and possesses an ability to integrate principles of geriatric nursing into nursing practice Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing Successful candidates will have a sincere passion for working with the elderly population Knowledge of nursing theory and practice Must have compassion, tolerance and understanding for the elderly | Responsibilities POSITION: Licensed Practical Nurse - Full-time Nights 11-7am Education in all areas of LTC/Subacute to ensure competency on all units in the facility Participates in the nursing care of patients within the scope of the legal definition of the practice of practical nursing The LPN works under the supervision and/or direction of a registered professional nurse Participates in the formulation and implementation of patient care plans to meet the specialized needs of geriatric patients under the supervision of an RN Administers patient care as assigned by an RN within departmental guidelines As the unit situation requires, an LPN may be assigned to assume team leader, primary nurse or charge responsibilities under the direction of an RN Directs and supervises non-professional staff as assigned Observes, records and reports patient data as dictated by departmental policy Participates in unit nursing and inter-disciplinary team activities Administers medications and performs nursing procedures as dictated by departmental policy Attends nursing and other institutional in-service programs and participates in departmental committees as assigned Performs related and miscellaneous duties as directed In an emergency situation, may be expected to perform unrelated duties Benefits Full-time and Part-time Positions Available We offer an excellent salary, dynamic work environment and a comprehensive benefits package 1199 Union Benefits |
