WHITEFISH SCHOOL DISTRICT Position DescriptionAREA: Whitefish Middle School Health Enhancement & Intramural Coordinator (.67 FTE) LOCATION: Whitefish Middle School Whitefish School District seeks a Health Enhancement Teacher and Intramural Coordinator to join one of the leading school districts in the state of Montana. Summary Of AssignmentProvides instruction and leadership in order to enable students to develop a love of learning and to enjoy fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological and physical growth and maturation. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Whitefish Public Schools seeks candidates with strong character, passion for excellence and a relentless commitment to student achievement. Applicants should also meet the following requirements):
K-12 Health Enhancement endorsement and/or
Elementary Education endorsement
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching at the middle school level
A teaching minor and/or endorsement in another content area
Experience with and demonstrated ability to supervise/coach extra-curricular activities/athletics
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including But Not Limited To)
Participate as a member of an instructional team
Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, discovery, and questioning to ensure student learning of content standards, goals and objectives
Develop students' understanding and application of health and physical education related topics following Montana Health Enhancement content and performance standards and District curriculum
Maximize instructional time with students
Practice teaching as an integration of disciplines
Create an effective environment for learning
Maintain high expectations for self and students
Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs
Integrate intramural activities during recess to provide opportunities for competition and recreational physical activities while ensuring an understanding of the game, good sportsmanship, and respect for all.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program
Identify student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
Provide accommodations and modifications for growth and success for all students
Evaluate academic and social growth of students to prescribed criteria and keeps appropriate records
Plan and coordinates the work of parent assistants and volunteers
Serve on school and district committees
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities
Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned school day
Attend all grade level meetings, staff meetings, and student meetings
Provide appropriate safety instruction, supervision, and awareness of equipment
Identify equipment in need of repair to ensure the overall safety of students
Maintain proper storage, inventory and use of school owned property
Other related duties as assigned by the building principal
REPORTSTO: Building Principal Physical DemandsThis type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds.
