LOCATION: Muldown Elementary School
Whitefish School District seeks an Elementary Teacher to join one of the leading school districts in the state of Montana. This position is temporary and contingent on ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund) funds. Summary Of AssignmentProvides instruction and leadership in order to enable students to develop a love of learning and to enjoy fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological and physical growth and maturation.

Physical DemandsThis type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds. The physical demands & work-environment characteristics described within this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Valid Montana teaching licensure with an elementary endorsement
- Successful experience as a classroom or pre-service teacher
- Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development
- Ability to relate to and work with children and adolescents
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents/family members, support staff, teachers supervisors, and the general public
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from students, parents/families, staff and the community
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters
- Experience teaching at the elementary level
- Experience with and demonstrated ability to supervise/coach extra-curricular activities/athletics
- Experience teaching a multi-age classroom
- Demonstrate relentless drive to improve the minds and lives of students
- Take holistic accountability for student success- taking ownership of each student’s academic success or failure.
- To live and model the school’s core values with colleagues, students, parents and the larger community
- To reinforce the school’s core values, guiding philosophy, rules and school spirit
- To devote the necessary time and energy required to master the craft of teaching. To be open to innovative approaches to teaching, feedback from colleagues and school administration.
- To actively participate in the school’s professional development programs including data analysis and planning, leading and participating in best practice sessions, peer coaching, and attending conferences.
- Is a member of instructional team
- Is technology and multi-media oriented
- While working towards goals and objectives, uses a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, discovery, etc
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities
- Respects authority and carries out Board Policy and administrative directives
- Commands good verbal and written skills
- Practices teaching as an integration of disciplines
- Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers
- Evaluates academic and social growth of pupils to prescribed criteria and keeps appropriate records
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned school day
- Plans and coordinates the work of parent assistants and volunteers
