WhiteWater, Inc. is Hiring an Event Intern Near Charlotte, NC

The Events Intern at the Whitewater Center (Whitewater) is responsible for assisting in the coordination of all public-facing events. Typical events include, but are not limited to, single and multi-day Festivals, Whitewater Race Series events, Whitewater Film Series events, River Jam concerts, Yoga sessions, Adventure Dining, Winter programming, Outpost programming and all other established programming. The Events Intern is a part-time, on-site position and reports directly to the Event and Race Manager.
Responsibilities
  • Aid in the planning and execution of all public events, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Create engaging event programming that appeals to the target audience and aligns with company objectives.
  • Manage race operations including packet pick-ups, trail marking, venue layouts and timing software.
  • Actively participate and engage with the running/climbing/biking community in greater Charlotte to stay informed about trends and preferences.
  • Handle guest communication promptly and professionally, addressing emails, feedback, and concerns.
  • Aid in database management, including data entry, organization, and maintenance of event-related information.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of all public events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the overall success of the organization.
Requirements
  • Must have open availability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between August 12-November 29
  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited college or university or have graduated from an undergraduate program within the last six months.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English with other employees, guests, and vendors.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during other Whitewater events as needed.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time in all weather and environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stand, lean, and kneel on a regular basis and for sustained periods of time.
  • Must be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain or in a confined space.
  • Must be able to work in shared spaces with other employees and customers.
  • All positions as Whitewater require employees to report and work onsite at Whitewater locations.
