PURPOSE:

Responsible for ensuring the availability of all necessary materials required to support the purchasing and manufacturing processes, release scheduling of inbound raw materials and components, and ensuring adequate stock levels for production requirements. The Materials/Shop Supervisor is also responsible for purchasing goods and services, and for the planning and purchase and manufacturing of goods and services to support the FlowRider Value Stream. Has a key role in ensuring that goods and services are purchased at the best overall value, on time, and meets the quality specifications. This “jack of all trades” position requires an energetic, self starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, and a can do attitude.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and execute best practices in accordance with Shipments of goods, to include international logistics and Dangerous Goods documentation.
  • Strong inventory background that supports receipt of good, issues to shop floor, cycle counting and multiple warehouse activity
  • Warehouse management and background in utilizing space
  • Purchase components, sub-contracted services and finished products
  • Evaluate and manage existing and potential suppliers
  • As per the requisitions, places purchase orders with approved suppliers in accordance with agreements
  • Develop cost saving initiatives
  • Monitor progress of purchase orders, manufacturing work orders, and expedites critical orders
  • Resolve Invoice discrepancies
  • Publish metrics, production schedules, and actual results vs schedules
  • Make continuous improvements in costs, lead times and inventory control
  • Help develop and implement ERP systems, procedures and strategies
  • Reconcile material non-conformances
  • Provide input in relation to improving the planning system and business processes
  • Monitor inventory levels, equipment and stock issued, distributed and/or transferred within or outside the organization
  • Responsible for materials availability to support the manufacturing process
  • Develop and improve the integrity of the internal materials planning process (i.e. ERP or MRP, or other) to ensure accurate release requirement timing of materials
  • Identify, develop, and document inventory release strategy for critical and long lead-time components
  • Formulate a forward plan of requirements based on historical information and future customer forecasts
  • Monitor inventory levels, equipment and stock issued, distributed and/or transferred within or outside the organization
  • Effectively communicate on a timely basis with internal departments. Coordinate necessary action plans with affected departments
  • Maintaining Stores 5S housekeeping includes; sweeping, emptying garbage cans, cleaning work areas
  • Define and align goals with departmental goals then ensure regular performance feedback is completed
  • Remain current with market trends through relationships with vendors and market
  • Continuous improvement of self and team
  • Respect for people with communication, consideration and cooperation
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or equivalent knowledge in the area of Materials Management or Purchasing, including PMAC or CAPIC/APICS certification designation preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of MRP, inventory, purchasing and production principles
  • Experience in implementation and execution of cycle counting policy and procedures
  • Expert knowledge of Item Master configuration
  • You must have excellent communication and negotiating skills, both verbal and written
  • Shop Floor supervision and experience required
  • Advanced in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
