We are looking for a Bridge Project Engineer to join our growing team in our Raleigh, NC office. In this role, the engineer will work on a multi-disciplinary team developing bridge and structural plans for transportation projects for NCDOT, other State DOT agencies, and/or municipal localities.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include performing engineering calculations pertaining to and in support of contract plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates associated with the rehabilitation or replacement of various types of bridge structures, coordinating design and plan development with other technical disciplines, performing quality control review of design calculations, plans, specifications, and estimates, mentoring junior staff and support their technical development, and assisting with the development of technical proposals, marketing, and contracting activities. 

Requirements

• B.S.C.E. or B.S.C.E.T. (ABET-accredited program) with 10 years of relevant experience
• Licensed as an NC Registered Professional Engineer
• Experience designing bridge projects and preparing contract documents with strong knowledge of NCDOT policies and procedures 
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO bridge specifications
• Experience with a variety of bridge design software 
• Hands-on experience with MicroStation/GEOPAK software 
• NCDOT Design Build experience a plus
• Hands-on experience with OpenBridge Designer a plus
• Experience with NCDOT bridge safety inspections and WIGINS a plus
• Completion of NHI-130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges) a plus
• Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
• Exceptional leadership, communication and organization skills
• Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state on limited as needed basis
