Widener University is currently seeking an Admissions Counselor in the Office of JD Admissions at the Delaware Law School. Reporting to the Most Senior Admissions Director, this role is responsible for assisting with meeting enrollment goals, aiding in the development and evaluation of strategic recruitment and enrollment plans, and building strong working relationships with faculty, administrators, students and pre-law advisors. The Admissions Counselor will work closely with the Most Senior Admissions Director and the entire Admissions Office Team to actively recruit applicants from a national applicant pool. The Admissions Counselor will assist in the dissemination of information, recruitment strategy, evaluation, selection and enrollment of first year and transfer students. While providing excellent customer service to prospective students, the Admissions Counselor will be required to work with a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, process management, discretion, and confidentiality. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) : Essential duties:
Review law school applications and provide decision recommendations
Under the supervision of the Most Senior Admissions Director, track, monitor, support and perform all administrative and registration functions associated with all off-campus recruitment events including processing payments, managing event host relationships and invoices, preparing recruitment calendar, mailing/shipping recruitment materials, and communicating all pertinent event information to individually assigned recruiters
Coordinate data entry and tracking of all off-campus event Prospect Student leads and necessary follow-up
Maintain contact information for and relationships with event sponsors year over year to ensure registration and inclusion in future events
Assist with the planning and hosting of on and off campus recruitment events
Represent Law School at regional and national off campus recruitment events to qualified and diverse applicants
Develop and steward relationships with regional and national undergraduate institution pre-law advisors and career development professionals
Conduct information and counseling sessions with prospective applicants.
Conduct group presentations
Track success of recruitment and outreach efforts
Limited implementation of targeted email aspects of office communication plan
Assist with outreach to applicants and prospects through use of social media and innovative technologies
Assist with review and provide updates to all admissions web content on an ongoing basis
Assist in the production of marketing materials
Personal communication, correspondence, and follow-up (written, electronic, telephone) with prospective students
Understand, create and implement all CRM system (UNITE) functions associated with lead generation, scholarship modeling, application import verification, and decision processing
Process admission decisions and all necessary follow up communications
Assist, when necessary, with the following:
Processes application imports, admission decisions and deposits
Manage CRM system (LSAC UNITE) and University Database System (Colleague), and all functions related to application document submissions and application verification process
At times, acts as liaison with Law School Admissions Council Support Services Team for applicants having difficulty with the application itself, the Credential Assembly Service, or Online Status Check tool
Conduct first level of application review, providing necessary email communication to applicants who have failed to provide all needed information
Independently determine application readiness for decision review; determine and track application stage and status
Additional duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required) : Required:
Bachelor’s degree
At least 2 years of experience in Admissions or related field in higher education
Willingness to travel
Valid driver’s license
Experience with the use of social media in educational marketing
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel, Outlook, one Drive, Bookings, etc.)
Excellent communication skills (i.e. grammar, vocabulary) to be applied to telephone and written communications such as email, letters, and memos
Superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with applicants, parents, students, and all staff in a high-volume office
Demonstrated ability to multitask with exceptional attention to detail
Aptitude and willingness to learn new technology systems and system upgrades, including but not limited to Customer Relationship Management systems and student information systems
Enthusiastic, organized self-starter capable of working independently and as a part of team supporting creative people and innovative solutions
Preferred:
JD or advanced degree in related field
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
Extensive travel required
Standing for prolonged periods of time at recruitment events
Lifting and carrying marketing materials to recruitment events and presentation
Frequent night, early morning and weekend hours as needed to achieve recruitment goals
