Wieland is hiring a Caster Floater. The Caster Floater will be responsible for reporting to the casting supervisor, performing various semi-skilled, supporting casting operations, assembling rebuilds, sets-up, maintaining and operating equipment designed to produce copper tubing using continuous casting technology.

This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay : $19.28 / hourl (Additional pay levels are available for those interested in progressing)

Shift Differential for B Team : $.50 / hour

Schedule : B Team - 7 PM to 7 AM on a 2-2-3 Schedule

Pay Schedule : Bi-weekly

Responsibilities

Caster Floater Responsibilities :

• Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
• Performs all applicable SOP’s, JSA’s, and QAP’s associated with assigned job title.
• Assembles, rebuilds, sets-up, maintains and operates equipment used in the continuous casting process for copper tubing production.
• Operation and handling of melting / holding furnaces.
• Handling and work of any kind of refractory including castables and ramming mixtures.
• Handling, charging, and melting of copper.
• Handling of copper cathodes, chops, and plant scrap.
• Requires ability to perform quality checks including : Visual checks, measurements with ID, OD, and wall micrometers, calculation of tube eccentricity out of performed wall checks.
• Operation of all kinds of machinery / tools including, but not limited to : crane, forklift, and jack hammers.
• Ability, not only to operate machinery, but able to add, change, save, or recall stored data in systems such as WFS and Excel.

Caster Floater Qualifications :

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Must successfully pass application, interview and pre-hire screening process if not currently employed.
• Must successfully complete post hire training, if not currently employed.
• Ability to maintain good working relationship with all co-workers and to use good judgment in recognizing scope of responsibilities.
• No education or experience requirements. However, a clean criminal record, and the ability to read, write, and do basic math is required.
• Work history will be reviewed for stability where applicable.
• Must be able to communicate information effectively and accurately.
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Must be able to perform firm grasping, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, standing, crouching, sitting, negotiating stairs, ladders, and slippery surfaces in a hot / cold (summer / winter) environment, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Work safely with, around, and wearing protection for cleaning chemicals, solvents, copper fumes, inks and lubricants.
• Must be able to distinguish colors.
• Must be able to grasp and use a pry bar (20 pounds).
• Must be able to firmly grasp and use hammers, wrenches, and various hand tools during adjustments, repairs, and replacement / change-out operations.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment for assigned duties.
• Must be able to use a shovel during cleaning operations.
• Must be able to operate a jackhammer and Brokk robotic jackhammer.
• No pacemakers allowed due to electro magnetic hazard.
