NYC law firm is seeking an attorney with at least three years of experience in family based immigration and removal defense. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Represent clients in Immigration Court, USCIS, and the BIA.
• Represent clients in family based Immigrant Visa petitions.
• Prepare and prosecute affirmative and defensive asylum matters.
• Manage a caseload of removal defense cases
• Prepare and litigate applications for relief from Removal, including Cancellation of Removal, Adjustment of Status, Asylum, Withholding of Removal, Convention Against Torture (CAT), and other waivers.
• Prepare motions and appeals for Removal hearings and USCIS.
• Work with clients to prepare affidavits for applications for asylum, U visas, VAWA, and waivers of inadmissibility (USCIS Forms I-212, I-601, I-601A).
• Perform legal research and submit briefs before the Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and USCIS.

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, and must be admitted and in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Must be fluent in Spanish
• Strong communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Experience writing affidavits for immigration waivers.
• Ability to handle a fast-paced and demanding calendar
• Strong litigation skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
