The Business Solutions Specialist works across the firm to develop creative and innovative ways to solve complex business problems through technology, solution development, and process improvement. This position is responsible for the entire project life cycle from analysis, requirement elicitation, and definition, through testing, deployment, and portfolio management.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Business Analysis:
- Support the design and implementation of technology solutions through detailed analysis of processes, procedures, and workflow and identification of problems, issues and potential solutions
- Conduct interviews with attorneys and professional staff to determine user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods
- Identify and establish scope, parameters, and priorities of identified needs to define project priorities and fit into the overall technology portfolio
- Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and other artifacts to define current and future state workflows
- Conduct research on software and hardware products, and emerging technologies that translate into practical solutions and meet business needs
- Prepare cost/benefit analyses for proposed or potential solutions to support procurement and/or solution development efforts

Develop prototypes using process models, solution design architectures, and wireframes
- Create and maintain project plans and other artifacts
- Maintain accurate and up to date project artifacts based on project phase and lifecycle
- Maintain regular communication with project team members and firm stakeholders regarding project status and timeline, including proposed changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements
- Engage with stakeholders to establish project goals and success factors, scope of engagement, priorities, and deliverables
- Identify and model current state business processes and participate in future state design sessions
- Facilitate project meetings ensuring effective and timely communication across project team, stakeholders, and leadership
- Monitor, control, and track project workstreams, conduct corrective action as necessary, and update project plans accordingly
- Review deliverables and ensure adherence to Project Management Office frameworks and standards
- Develop tests cases and plans
- Collaborate with Training Department to develop training plans and ensure successful end user adaptation of solutions
- Catalog project closure by performing operational hand-off, lessons learned, and/or knowledge transfer sessions
- Perform regular analysis and internal assessments to determine usage, adaptation, and other outcome patterns and provide recommendations to drive product performance or optimization
- Evaluate the technical viability of new and existing product and platforms and provide recommendations on fitment and value realization.
- Monitor and evaluate product enhancements, changes, and releases
- Meets the department’s expectations to retrieve, read and/or respond to firm and client-related e-mail messages during and outside of core business and scheduled work hours by connecting a personal mobile device (smartphone or tablet with a data plan) to the firm’s network
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both in oral and written form
- Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and build relationships through a consultative approach and strong listening skills

- Knowledge of information technology applications and infrastructure concepts, business analysis processes, data analytics, and software development life cycle
- Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
- Flexibility and willingness to respond to issues during and outside of core business hours
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience required. Prior experience working in a law firm is a plus
- Two (2) plus years of relevant work experience with business process improvements, project management principles, analytical techniques, and practices required
- PMP or BA certificate a plus
- Broad technical skills with familiarity of database construction and concepts, data manipulation, programming languages, and system and process designs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of MS Power BI
- Demonstrated experience in the design, development, and implementation of software solutions and systems
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with process modeling and mapping tools required (i.e. Visio, Miro)
- Demonstrated experience with wireframing or storyboard tools required (i.e. Balasmiq)
- Experience applying Agile practices preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Position operates in a professional office environment which is usually quiet to moderate
- Position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
- Position requires that the employee be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information. Salary : $110,000 - $130,000
