Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Provides residents with quality personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths.
Provides activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding residents as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning residents; provides fresh water and serve between meal and bedtime snacks.
Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine; recording intake and output information.
Observes any changes in resident physical or mental status and communicates to the Executive Director, Nurses or Resident Services Manager.
Provides laundry and housekeeping services to residents, as assigned.
Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor.
Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
Assists with resident activity programs as assigned.
Complies with HIPAA Privacy Act by protecting confidential patient information.
Relieves at front desk, providing constant coverage for call and alarm system, as well as clerical and secretarial support as requested.
Follows all policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment. Looks for ways to improve community functioning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Strong desire to work with the elderly. Treat all residents with respect and dignity at all times.
English literate and with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and other departments.
Consistently demonstrates a pleasant demeanor, tone of voice, supports the philosophy and approach to care used by the Community.
Ability to multitask and willingness to learn.
Keeps resident information confidential, respects resident’s rights, respects privacy and right to self-determination of residents.
Capable of working overtime and alternate shifts as needed. This position may require work on evenings, weekends and holidays.
Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
Caregiver
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior Caregiver experience preferred, but not required.
Healthcare/Long Term Care experience preferred.
