What is the Lead Cook experience?

As the Lead Cook, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef and Sous Chef. Your main responsibility is ensuring that the food production meets high standards.

In this position, your tasks will involve reviewing menus and recipes to plan food preparation activities. You'll oversee the kitchen operations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring everything runs smoothly. It'll be up to you to organize and delegate tasks for small batch cooking, as well as troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the process. Additionally, you'll lend a hand in training and orienting new kitchen staff members.

When necessary, you'll step in to assist the Sous Chef with various responsibilities such as purchasing, staff scheduling, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.

What are the job qualifications?

• Minimum two-years of institutional cooking experience required.
• One year of experience in a lead position preferred.
• Experience with special diets preferred.
• Knowledge of cuts of meat, institutional cooking, kitchen equipment and the safe and effective use of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Requires skills to estimate quantities and formulate new recipes.
• Good understanding of sanitation procedures.
• Good communication skills: must be able to demonstrate effective reading, writing, and speaking skills, possess strong mathematical and analytical skills and be able to follow written instructions and understand measurements.
• Be a detail-oriented person, perform duties with great accuracy and work cooperatively with others.
• Must consent to and pass a criminal background check.
