Production Worker - Production Line Leader

Position Summary:

Responsible for operating equipment safely and effectively for production processing.

Essential Job Functions:

• Standing / walking 67-100% of the day
• Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs. 67-100% of the time and 11-20 lbs. 1-33% of the time
• Handling small items 67-100% of the time
• Twisting / turning / reaching outward 34-66% of the time
• Bending / squatting / kneeling, reaching above shoulders 1-33% of the time
• Ensure equipment functions efficiently & all procedures work correctly, adjusting computer-controlled machine as necessary.
• Prepare or assemble containers / boxes for packing and load supplies into machines.
• Visually examine, inspect, test and/or measure containers, materials, and products to ensure that quality control standards are met.
• Use & read measuring equipment as needed for product weight.
• Record/track results, maintaining proper counts and recording scrap items.
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise, making minor repairs and notifying maintenance as needed.
• Remove completed or defective products or materials. Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Supervisor and/or Plant Manager.
• Move completed packages / boxes onto conveyor belt for processing.
• Performs general housekeeping and organization of the work area, which includes hands-on cleaning to support safety regulations.
• Assist Packers or Utility Stockpersons as needed

Position Qualification Requirements

Education/Training:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Training is provided during the probationary period by the Production Supervisor, Maintenance and other Production Line Leads.

Experience:

• Previous experience as Packer preferred, but not required.
• Manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.

Skills & Abilities:

• Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
• Must be able follow directives from the supervisor.
• Must be able to pass the post offer physical and drug test.
• Ability to follow instructions and company safety rules.
• Must possess good organizational skills.
• Must have good manual dexterity skills.

Machines, Tools, Equipment & Work Aids (note: this list may not be all inclusive)

• Works with blister machinery, cartoning machinery, conveyor belts, wrapping equipment, case sealers, punch presses and general packaging equipment.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands:

• This position involves sitting & standing at a production line and requires bending & squatting.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
• Good visual skills are necessary as this employee must be able to visually inspect items for damage.
• Hearing is essential for safety around machinery.

Work Environment:

• This position is in a manufacturing environment using chemicals. The environment can be dusty.
• Personal protection equipment consists of safety glasses in certain areas and optional dust mask respirator, gloves, and / or hearing protection.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None, but monitors activities of Packers and Utility Stockpersons of a line
