Williams Elementary School is Hiring an Intervention Teacher Near Macon, GA

The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year.

Summary Description of Classification:  To plan for and to provide appropriate learning experiences, interventions and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the classroom. Learning should be designed to bring students to grade level mastery of the Georgia Standards of Excellence as quickly as possible.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, and effective instructional practices. Understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to infuse technology into curriculum. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community. Respect for diversity in education. Excellent oral and written communication along with strong human relations skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develops data driven, research-based interventions in a fun, engaging manner;
  2. Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families;
  3. Demonstrates command of school subject(s) taught;
  4. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides small group and individualized instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil;
  5. Plans and implements developmentally appropriate interactive learning experiences;
  6. Communicates regularly with parents;
  7. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning environment;
  8. Monitors students’ progress in learning through a variety of techniques;
  9. Identifies pupil needs, develops strategies for small groups and/or individual education plans, implements any needed Tier II/III interventions and makes appropriate referrals through the school’s student support model.
  10. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day;
  11. Participates in professional learning as needed to support implementation of intervention curriculum materials;
  12. Provides assessments that measure student achievement of objectives as well as progress monitors student growth towards identified goals;
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university and meet the GAPSC requirement for certification. Experience in providing individual and small group instruction preferred. 

Certificate and License Requirements: Meets Georgia state certification requirements in appropriate field of education. Certification in Reading, Math, or applicable content area preferred.

SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:
1. 190 day work year.
2. Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Georgia Annual

Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
3. Excellent benefits package (including health insurance; dental, vision, and life

insurance; employee assistance program); personal and sick leave; membership in

Teachers' Retirement System.

4. This is a temporary position that will end at the conclusion of the grant cycle.

Physical Demands: To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, or hear. Lifting up to 20 pounds may be required on an occasional basis. The employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on occasion. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision and distance vision.
