We are seeking an experienced candidate for a store manager position at The Williamsburg General Store. The Williamsburg General Store opened in 2001 and has only had one manager to date who is retiring. There would be a significant amount of overlap time that would allow for the current manager to deliver extended training to the new manager.

Williamsburg Merchants, Inc. is the parent company of The Williamsburg General Store, which consists of six retail gift shops in Williamsburg, VA. Williamsburg Merchants is a family owned business and the store manager reports to the owners of the business. This is a salaried position and compensation will be discussed during the interview process. $50,000 is the minimum starting point for this position.

A focal role of the store manager is making sure that excellent customer service is delivered to all customers. The store manager is responsible for handling employee and customer issues that may arise at the store level. Making the schedule for the store and making sure that the store is adequately staffed are responsibilities of the store manager. Another responsibility of the store manager is to spearhead displaying merchandise and making sure that the store is merchandised well and featuring the right products. The store need to remain clean and tidy. Typically, a store manager is expected to work 40-50 hours a week.

The Williamsburg General Store also has an ice cream shop inside, Bubba's Ice Cream Shack. Bubba's has it's own manager but the manager of the Williamsburg General Store needs to be proficient in serving ice cream and general Bubba's procedures. The Williamsburg General Store and Bubba's Ice Cream Shack work in tandem since they are under the same roof and oftentimes will share employees.
