Primary Responsibilities:

• Walk designated sections to ensure plant material on sales is of the best quality and count is accurate. Adjust Buckets and Bins as needed.
• Review RIO heights and adjust as necessary
• Take current crop photos and crop notes for sections
• Verify accuracy of 10% of can sheets from the day prior
• Serve as a liaison between Inventory and R&D groups to evaluate new plant varieties
• Assist in executing R&D experiments including set up and data collection
• Maintain accurate records and photos of trial plantings and experiments
• Assist with targeted scouting for regulated pests and diseases

Skills:

• Need to be able to use an iPad
• Plant I.D.
• Pest/disease ID
• All proper paperwork is filled out and turned in at set times.
• Proper record keeping.
• Basic Math skills including Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Knowledge:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Must be computer literate, have organizational, communication, typing, calculating, basic accounting skills, and perform other basic clerical duties.
• OCNT (Ohio Certified Nursery Technician) or other industry certification beneficial

Work Environment: Outdoor 60-75% of time; Be prepared to work in all safe weather conditions caring for the plants.

Work schedule:

Spring 45 – 50 hours / week including weekends when scheduled

Summer 40 hours / week

Fall and winter 40 – 45 hours / week

Average hours worked per year: 2200

Typical hours are 7:00-4:30pm and weekend hours determined based on workload
