Wilson Academy of Applied Technology is Hiring a College Liaison Near Carolina, NC

Reports To: Principal

Terms of Employment: This is a 10 1 month permanent position.

Nature of Work

The college liaison assists early college students in developing five-year plans of study combining secondary and postsecondary coursework to ensure the attainment of an associate’s degree or two years of transferable college credit. The college liaison will also assist early college staff in developing the awarding of high school credits for college coursework as needed.

Qualifications and Licensure

  • Master’s Degree in Education preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education required
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Administer standardized tests and interpret results
  • Make public presentations to groups
  • Interpret and explain state educational and college rules, regulations and policies
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, faculty, students, parents, public school staff, and the general public

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Schedule, coordinate, and administer placement, district, and state testing
  • Maintain all standardized test scores for the early college, including ACT, EOCs, PREACT, PSAT, SAT, and WorkKeys
  • Meet with students semesterly to discuss college courses, career pathways, and college planning. The College Liaison and the School Counselor will work together and share information transparently to create the best fit path for individual students
  • Register students for college classes in the college specific platform
  • Ensures compliance with college rules and regulations, state codes, and granted waivers
  • Synchronize the planning for the early college, so that student schedules are developed to fit into the college cycles, including room allocation and instructor assignment, where appropriate
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of selected pathways and how they relate to potential colleges and careers
  • Maintain knowledge of college transfer opportunities that align with student interests and desired majors and career pathways for their intended 4-year college / university
  • Coordinate with Wilson Community College staff to arrange the use of college facilities for early college functions including testing sessions, meetings, special events, and ceremonies
  • Meet with students to discuss educational goal attainment and ongoing academic progress
  • Conduct degree audits for college curricula to ensure students are meeting requirements to graduate
  • Conduct formal and/or informal meetings with college instructors teaching earlycollege students to monitor academic performance
  • Provide information to principal, counselors, and/or parents regarding students’ performance in college courses
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, as required
  • Provide information to college accessibility services counselors regarding the instructional needs of students with a documented need for academic accommodations
  • Assist students with getting graduation supplies and applying to graduate
  • Connect students and coordinate early college student involvement in college activities and clubs
  • Participate in activities to promote early college to parents, potential students, and the community
  • Coordinate and conduct seminars for students on topics that relate to academics, college success, and industry
  • Coordinate college textbook distribution and collection
  • Coordinate Chromebook distribution and collection
  • Work with district staff on career development opportunities
  • Help to recruit businesses to partner with the school to provide field trips, speakers, mentors, job shadowing, and internship opportunities
  • Work with the school counselor to plan field trips to provide students with college / university and career exposure
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Administer standardized tests and interpret results
  • Make public presentations to groups
  • Interpret and explain state educational and college rules, regulations and policies
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, faculty, students, parents, public school staff, and the general public
  • Other duties as assigned by school administration

Special Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of basic computer functions and Google Suite tools
