Summary: To perform this job satisfactorily, a team member must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The Tractor Driver is responsible for the care and operation of the yard equipment such as forklifts and loader and for maintaining a safe work environment. Tractor Drivers operates straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop. Possess the ability to work in a constant State of Alertness & Safe Manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Ensures equipment is maintained according to company standards and customer contracts

· Operates company equipment safely

· Operates straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop.

· Performs routine maintenance on loader, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.

· Consistently keep logs to lathe infeed

· Lifts and transport logs to and from storage or processing areas, to lathe infeed, and to load trucks or railcars: Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader.

· Records vehicle information accurately and legibly

· The tractor driver needs knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data property, and institutions

· Operates digital camera or other basic documentation and tracking devices

· The tractor driver monitors products movement to and from the destination, coordinating activities with other team members to ensure constant product flow.

· Must be able to load and unload vehicles as required

· Performs other duties as assigned

· Inspect work area prior to start up

· Complete rolling stock check list before operating equipment

· Report any problems with equipment to supervisor before operating

· Maintains and Keeps vats rotated

· Check water temperature in all vats

· Keep cores emptied from core pocket

· Assist in keeping log processer pockets emptied

· Know department layout and process

· Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives the tractor forward to force bucket into bulk material.

· Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump material.

Responsibilities:

· Follows yard guidelines to maintain a safe working environment (speed limits etc.)and following all established safety rule, regulations, and procedures

· Attend and complete all required monthly safety training

· To learn more about the LEAN Guiding Principles

· Must be able to pass training and safety requirements

· Promote Departmental Housekeeping and in my job area

· The tractor driver observes positions of cars passing loading spouts, and swing spouts into the correct positions at the appropriate times.

· The tractor driver checks conditions and weights of vessels to ensure cleanliness and compliance with loading procedures.

· The tractor driver has knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

· Maintain a positive and professional demeanor

· Must be able to load and unload vehicles as required

· To recognize and take action on machine problems through SOP and communication.

· Relieve operators for lunch/breaks, vacations, etc.

· Communicate with tender on departmental issues

Desired Skills and Experience:

· At least two years of work experience, preferably in an outdoor environment

· One year of tractor driver or forklift experience, certificate preferred

· The tractor driver has the skill of learning strategies. This includes selecting and using training methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.

· The tractor driver has the ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.

· The tractor driver needs the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.

· Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

· Skill of coordination. This includes adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.

Education:

· High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Physical Requirements and Demands:

· While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must coordinate eye-hand movement.

· This job requires frequent pushing and pulling of machine controls.

· Requires long intervals of sitting.

· Occasionally entering and exiting machinery.

Language Skills

· Effectively communicates and understand job instructions both verbally and written in English Language.
