Job Title: Instructional Coach

Location: Winston County Schools, Alabama

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary: The Instructional Coach for Winston County Schools is dedicated to enhancing instruction and student achievement. This position involves full-day engagement in collaborative leadership, professional learning, and academic coaching duties to ensure measurable increases in student learning and application of core subjects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborative Leadership Duties:

  • Collaborate with building-level administrators, Mathematics School Improvement Team (MSIT), Multi-Tiered System of Supports Team (MTSS), building-level staff, and district-level personnel to develop and implement coaching, goals, resources, and strategies to improve student achievement.
  • Work with grade-level teachers and teams to understand and implement curriculum maps, pacing guides, and instructional plans.
  • Develop rigorous tasks, lessons, and assessments aligned with the Alabama Course of Study Standards.
  • Facilitate the analysis of student work samples and assessment data, providing real-time feedback and instructional decisions based on student evidence.
  • Plan regularly with school and district staff to ensure all students progress toward grade-level mastery of content.
  • Advocate for and coordinate opportunities for school-based parent, guardian, and community engagement in mathematics.

Professional Learning Duties:

  • Develop and facilitate job-embedded professional learning opportunities for teachers, using strategies such as joint pre-planning, modeling lessons, co-teaching, targeted observation, and debriefing.
  • Support and co-facilitate with school administrators and teachers to analyze and utilize assessment data across all tiers of instruction.
  • Plan and facilitate professional learning opportunities to help teachers target student deficits, engage students, assess learning, reflect on professional practice, and identify next steps.
  • Reflect on personal coaching practices to evaluate the impact on student mastery of grade-level content and performance.

Coaching Duties:

  • Promote enhanced instruction by coaching teachers to implement effective teaching practices and formative assessment cycles focused on student outcomes.
  • Support the professional growth of teachers by strengthening their understanding of academic content.
  • Coach teachers in instruction across all tiers to increase the number of students performing at or above grade-level proficiency.
  • Adhere to an LEA-approved schedule that includes preplanned daily coaching cycles, professional learning opportunities, and flexible job-embedded connections with teachers.
  • Partner with teachers to raise the performance of all students, continually improving teacher skills and efficacy in producing student growth.
  • Model an exemplary work ethic by actively coaching teachers and participating as a fully functioning member of the school staff daily to build teacher capacity and achieve efficacy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in Alabama.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in core instruction and classroom management.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and implement data-driven instructional strategies.
  • Experience with professional development and teacher coaching.
  • Knowledge of the Alabama Courses of Study
