Wisconsin Department of Corrections is Hiring a Food Service Manager Near Lisbon, NY

Position Summary
The Food Service Manager (FSM) is responsible for assisting the Food Service Administrator (FSA) in the planning, direction and operation of a complex food service program at New Lisbon Correctional Institution, a medium security institution for adult males.
This position provides direct supervision, training and evaluation of Corrections Food Service Leaders in the preparation and distribution of food, equipment care, sanitation, and receiving and warehousing.
It also conducts training for food service staff and Persons in Our Care (PIOC). The FSM assumes overall responsibility for the Food Service Department in the absence of the FSA.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 81-04 with a starting pay of $27.00/hour - $37.30/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details
This position is not eligible for remote work. Anticipated schedule will be Monday – Friday 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM. This position is FLSA Exempt.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

QualificationsSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have the ability to work up to 14 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs, this may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be complete ServSafe certification within 12 months of hire.
Minimally Qualified Applicants Will Have
  • Experience with large-scale food production.
  • Experience with sanitation in a major food production setting.
  • Experience performing food service management tasks (managing inventory, using food storage techniques and etc.)
In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have:
  • Experience supervising staff (e.g. hiring, training, assigning and directing work, performance evaluations, discipline, dismissal, settling grievances, etc.)
  • Experience with nutrition and/or quality assessment (including modified and/or medically restricted diets).
  • Experience with financial tasks (cost control, generating purchasing specifications/justifications, etc.)
