Position Description

Position Title: Data Analyst

Department: Strategic Investment & Evaluation

Reports To: Senior Director ofStrategic Performance

Position(s) Supervised: N/A

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Data Analyst will work to advance data-informed decision making, build the capacity of divisions and partners to pursue analytics and understand complex data, and leverage these skills to provide innovative solutions to unique problems. The Data Analyst will help to plan out long term research and evaluation strategies, apply statistical knowledge to summarize organizational and contextual economic data, and will work on projects that are of a cross-divisional nature. This role works to advance WEDC’s mission and vision by providing data analysis that supports strategic investment decisions, transparency and the focus on an Economy for All.

Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will spend a majority of their time in these activities:

  • Support the evolving focus on the use of internal grant, loan, and tax credit award data with centralized reporting to inform decisions.
  • Help to build systems and processes to leverage internal and external data for better transparency, clarity, and consistency.
  • Create and maintain data dashboards to provide insight into the business process and economic environment.
  • Contribute to ongoing data governance and data management efforts.
  • Research economic issues and trends across the state, regionally and locally to provide context and analysis of industry and community conditions.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to help guide organizational activity reporting and evaluation.
  • Perform secondary data analysis for internal and external customers including the diagnostics of data consistency problems and identification of appropriate solutions.
  • Assist in developing agency-wide infrastructure and technology adoption that progresses automation and furthers knowledge sharing.
  • Work to identify, scope, gather data for, execute, and prepare statistical, narrative, and visual reports for program impact or economic issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
