The Division of Community Correction is recruiting for a Bilingual Spanish Probation and Parole Agent. This position will be located at 55600 W. Grande Market Dr., Suite A, Appleton, WI.
NOTE: This announcement will only be used to fill the Probation & Parole Agent - Bilingual Spanish vacancy located in Appleton, WI.The Probation and Parole Agent is responsible for monitoring a caseload of individuals placed on court ordered supervision. Probation and Parole Agents assess and prepare case plans for offenders, foster law-abiding behavior and positive participation in the community, prepare accurate and timely investigations, reports, and case records, and perform community outreach and liaison activities. This is a bilingual in English and Spanish position because the primary number of cases assigned will be offenders that meet the need for that requirement.
This position is in pay schedule/range 12-06 for Probation and Parole Agent with a starting pay rate of $22.06/hour, plus excellent benefits. Probation and Parole Agent - Senior is in pay schedule/range 12-08 with a starting pay rate of $25.81/hour. Bilingual employees assigned to a bilingual position will receive $1.00/hour add-on pay. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve month probationary period will be required.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This position has the flexibility of a hybrid in-office and remote work schedule up to 1 day a week remote.
Special Requirements: Probation and Parole Agents are required at the time of hire to possess a valid driver license, 2 year driving history, and be eligible to drive a state vehicle. Probation and Parole Agents may not drive a state vehicle if their driving record reflects any of the following conditions: Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years, an Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) / Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within 12 months and/or suspension or revocation of driver’s license.
NOTE: This announcement will only be used to fill the Probation & Parole Agent - Bilingual Spanish vacancy located in Appleton, WI.Minimally qualified applicants will have education, training, and/or experience related to:
  • Social work methods, such as case planning and management, assessing needs, interviewing, etc.
  • Criminal justice
  • Victim services

  • Problem identification and resolution techniques
  • Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and meet State of Wisconsin fleet requirements
In addition to the above, minimally qualified applicants for the Senior level will have:
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in probation/parole placing correctional clients in detention including arrest, custody and transportation
  • Experience with case management and case planning
  • Experience applying Evidence Based Practices with persons
