The Department of Health Services (DHS), Northern Wisconsin Center (NWC) is recruiting for a Psychological Associate in Chippewa Falls.
This position will typically work Monday through Friday, 7:45am to 4:30pm, and may require earlier or later hours, and/or weekends based on the needs of the facility.

NWC is a short-term assessment and treatment facility for individuals who have an intellectual disability as well as a mental illness and aggressive or challenging behaviors. The programming is designed to prepare people to live successfully in a community setting. NWC is one of three centers for individuals with intellectual disabilities managed by the Division of Care and Treatment Services.

ResponsibilitiesAs the Psychological Associate, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of individual treatment programs (ITP) for children and adults diagnosed with both a Developmental Disability and a Mental Illness, and exhibiting dangerous behaviors, using the entire spectrum of available behavioral management and clinical techniques. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Providing clinical behavior treatment to individuals with dual diagnoses, including conducting functional analysis and providing direction for implementation of individualized, specialized treatment programs
  • Participating in the pre-admission screening process
  • Developing and teaching staff development courses
  • Providing direction to the Psychological Services Technicians
BenefitsThe starting pay is $42.38 per hour (approximately $88,100 per year), plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. An additional hourly add-on may also be available for the following:
  • $6.00 per hour for a recognized Doctorate in Psychology or a related field such as Behavioral Disabilities
  • $3.00 per hour for a total of $9 in add-ons for an Interim Psychologist Licensure
  • $5.00 per hour for a total of $11 in add-ons for a Permanent Psychologist Licensure
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. These positions are in pay schedule and range 12/63.
DHS strives to hire individuals who demonstrate the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by NWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Minimally Qualified Applicants Will Have The Following
  • A Master's Degree in Psychology (e.g. Clinical Psychology, Behavioral Psychology, Forensic Psychology, etc.) or related field (Behavioral Disabilities, Applied Behavior Analysis) from an accredited institution. Note: a copy of your transcripts will be required prior to appointment to this position.
Well-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following:
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Experience providing training or education related to behavior treatment to staff, community members, and families.
  • Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
