The Maintenance Manager at our Decatur, Alabama plant will direct and coordinate activities for preventive maintenance, continuous optimization and improvement of production equipment and physical plant. Minimizing machine down time due to maintenance issues while ensuring safety in an efficient way will be one of the main responsibilities of this role.
Core responsibilities also include direct supervision and management of maintenance activities performed by the maintenance team including mechanics, welders, electricians and ammonia refrigeration technicians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ensure a Safety-First culture and support the company's safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, statutory, and ethical obligations to protect the Company reputation and minimize risk to employees, stakeholders, and the wider community.
• Implement and enforce location safe work rules and procedure as well as conduct annual reviews.
• Conduct Management of Change (MOC) reviews for all new equipment purchases and improvements of existing equipment/machinery.
• Review Accident/Incident Investigations for required incidents.
• Schedule and maintain the preventative maintenance (PM) program.
• Manage & develop maintenance staff effectively, optimize usage of human resources within the department conduct annual performance reviews & appraisals and prepare personal growth plans for all employees in maintenance department.
• Oversee and prioritize plant priorities pertaining to breakdowns, projects & PM's and allocate to employees.
• Maintain & improve housekeeping program within his/her department areas
• Responsibilities also include completion of items as assigned by the management team through the Corrective and Preventive Action process.
• Purchase maintenance items, spare parts for all plant equipment, facility and supplies Champion in partnership with operations management the Capital Improvement process Participate in scheduled audits to ensure compliance with DHS, ADEM, BRC, PSM, RMP, FSIS, LEPC
• Participate in conjunction with EHS in Risk Assessment, Corrective Actions, Job Task Analysis, Ergonomic Assessment, Training, JHSC & Employee meetings
• Report and achieve KPI targets.
• In partnership with EHS, maintain contractor management program and act as an onsite project supervisor to contractors, third parties or employees for projects to run according to schedule and within the budget and preparing progress reports.
• Effectively plan and manage shutdown maintenance.
• Oversee, train & support programs.
• Lock-out Tag out and energy isolation (Energy Control Procedures) Hot work program Confined Spaces & Restricted Spaces
• Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least two (2) years of college study in industrial maintenance,
• Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Business Management, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering a plus.
• 10 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Firm knowledge and experience with ammonia refrigeration preferred.
• Must be an analytical thinker with problem solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• English language skills (reading and writing) are required.
• Basic computer skills with working knowledge of basic computer programs.
• Knowledge of RTE/RTC/IQF poultry processing equipment a plus

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL WORK
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of -45 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
May be exposed to dust and all chemicals used in poultry food processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm. Able to stand for several hours.
