Maintains a consistent high standard of record keeping that assures the program will meet or exceed the regulatory requirements. Serves as a resource to medical staff and other related professional staff in the provision of patient care. Providing direct care to high-risk or complicated wound and ostomy patients in the acute and non-acute care areas. Coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care. Provides patient, family and staff education regarding wound management, prevention of pressure ulcers, support surfaces, dressing selections and other therapies. Additionally is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Hyperbaric: Will perform duties within the Wound Healing Center administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients under the supervision of a qualified registered nurse or physician. Is responsible for safe and effective operation of hyperbaric chambers and support systems. Provides hyperbaric therapy education and training. Documents and maintains complete and accurate patient treatment records. Completes educational requirement to safely and efficiently operate the hyperbaric chambers. The position is responsible as the Hyperbaric Safety Officer under the supervision of the Manager. Willingly accepts responsibility for safe and effective operation, control, and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber system and ancillary equipment. As the HBO chamber#s designated Safety Director, he/she works closely with the Department Manager, Nurse and Hyperbaric Physician(s), making recommendations for department safety policies and incorporating new safety procedures, as appropriate. He/she has the authority to restrict or immediately remove any potentially hazardous supply or equipment items from the chamber. The position serves as the department#s technical representative for chamber system maintenance and ensures that all required maintenance activities are completed. He/She constantly monitors patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen treatments in the chamber delivering care appropriate to his/her level of training and in accordance with standard policies and procedures. # Minimum Education/License/Certification Requirements Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program.# Must hold a valid license to practice Nursing in the State of Indiana.# Bachelors Degree required with a Masters Degree preferred.# Must have 3 (3) years acute care clinical experience/home care experience.# Must have one (1) year previous experience in caring for wounds and/or ostomies.# Eligibility to sit for the CWON or WCC certification by the WOCNCB. Current License or Certification is required in one of the following areas: National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Therapy Operator, RN, LPN, Paramedic, Certified Hyperbaric Technologist, or Certified Surgical Technologist Specific documented training and/or experience in chamber operations, including a demonstrated knowledge of decompression tables required. Maybe required to perform work outside of regularly scheduled hours, such as weekends, and be able to participate in a regular rotation of call coverage for emergency hyperbaric treatments. Ability to physically meet the working conditions required of the job. Minimum of 2 years of Healthcare experience is required.# Wound, Hyperbaric or critical care experience is required.# CPR # ACLS required.# Certification in Hyperbaric preferred, successful completion of a 40 hour NBDHMT approved Hyperbaric Course within 90 days of hire.
