Telecom installations technicians actually deploying NIDs at the customer prem and / or working in central offices / distribution locations.
3-5years of experience.
I'd add that phone system installations are a huge benefit, and experience with demarc moves or extensions are a big plus as well.
Past experience working for a Fiber company, Cable company in a switch or a central office is a must.
Location : Remote in Peoria, Bloomington, or Springfield Illinois areas. May go into the East Peoria Construction office now and then for paperwork.
Travel : This is a traveling position to client sites in the Central Illinois territory. Day travel with occasional (less than 10% a year) overnight travel.
Shift : Monday - Friday (8 am - 5 pm)
A Telecommunications Installer / Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication systems and equipment.
This role involves working with a variety of technologies, including telephone systems, internet services, cable television, and other communication devices.
The technician ensures that customers have access to reliable and high-quality communication services.
Responsibilities Include :
Installation and Setup :
Install and configure telecommunications equipment, including routers, modems, phone systems, and cable lines.
Set up and connect communication systems for residential and commercial customers.
Ensure proper functioning of installed equipment through testing and troubleshooting.
Maintenance and Repair :
Diagnose and repair issues with telecommunications equipment and infrastructure.
Perform routine maintenance to ensure systems are operating efficiently.
Respond to service calls and troubleshoot network or connectivity problems.
Customer Service :
Provide excellent customer service by explaining installation procedures and equipment usage to clients.
Address customer complaints and provide technical support both on-site and remotely.
Educate customers on how to use their new telecommunications systems effectively.
Technical Duties :
Run and terminate cables, including fiber optic, coaxial, and Ethernet.
Use specialized tools and equipment for installation and testing, such as cable testers and signal meters.
Program and configure telecommunications systems according to customer requirements.
Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Complete and submit required documentation and reports in a timely manner.

Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Understanding of telecommunications systems and networking principles.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Experience and Education :
Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecommunications installation, maintenance, or a related field.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good physical condition and ability to work in various environments, including heights and confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
Certifications such as CompTIA Network , Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), or similar are advantageous.
