Manager - Quality Assurance Compliance

THE ROLE:

• Pay Range: $99k - $134k

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Responsible for reviewing, implementing, and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
• Assures all functional areas of the plant comply with all GMPS, FDA regulations and other practices outlined by federal statutes or other regulatory agencies.
• Assures that the plant is well-prepared for the audit and manages all activities during the audit.
• Manages and executes the internal audit program. Works with plant personnel to develop and implement appropriate action plans for all audit observations. Assures that the corrective action plans are applied globally and consistently throughout the different plants.
• Serves as one of the plants Safe Quality Food (SQF) Practitioner. The SQF Practitioner reviews and approves all plant document changes and validation changes for impact on the SQF system. The SQF Practitioner is responsible for developing and maintaining the plant Food Safety Plan program. The SQF Practitioner owns the development and execution of the validation and verification activities for all plant prerequisite programs, control measures and critical limits.
• Ensure preparation and readiness for site regulatory inspections and all pre and internal and external post inspection activities.
• Manage Customer, Corporate and Internal quality audits.
• Coordinate audits findings with plant QA managers and operations team with the corrective action plans
• Shall be responsible to assess and complete customer document request with added support from Legal and Quality Managers
• Communicate with sales team whenever compliance needs are requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

• BS/BA degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field OR at least five years of applicable experience and/or advanced degree Preferred.
• Advanced computer skills including SharePoint, Access, Acrobat, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Must be HACCP, PCQI certified
• 10 years in quality assurance in the food and beverage industry preferred.
• Experience with GFSI Audits, SQF and Primus GFS
• Valid driver's license and good driving record

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Effective communication of technical and non-technical information to various levels, both internal and external to company.
• Strong working knowledge of QA principles
• Knowledge of federal and state food industry regulations including Food Safety Modernization Act
• Understanding of sanitation and pest control practices.
• Demonstrates competency in understanding of GFSI standards
• Strong computer and document management skills
• Effective documentation skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels internal and external to the plant to deliver timely results.
• Establish and sustain effective relationships with all employees to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems.
• Strong auditing/assessment skills
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations
• Ability to interact effectively with third parties and internal auditors.

• Position will primarily work 1st shift, but work schedule flexibility is required to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation is required.
• Will be a liaison to all Quality Managers at all plants.
• Will perform annual training on Food Safety, HACCP, GMP, Crisis Management and Security with added help from Safety and Upper Management at all facilities.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
• Capable of working independently as well as a team player cross-functionally.
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable with limited traveling, approximately 25% travel.
• May have up to two direct reports (could change with needs of business)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to sit for an extended period of time during work period.
• Able to walk through the exterior and interior of the manufacturing plant and warehouse in wet, noisy, hot, cold, and freezing temperatures.
