Women's Excellence in OB/GYN is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Orion, MI

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes patients by greeting them
  • Prepares the examining room for patient

a. Arrange instruments, supplies, and equipment

  • Prepares patients for the health care visit by accompanying them to the examining room
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming the purpose of the visit or treatment
  • Supports patient care delivery by assisting with:

a. Examinations

b. Preparing laboratory specimens

c. Performing basic laboratory tests

d. Disposing of contaminated supplies

e. Sterilizing medical instruments

f. Administering medications

g. Authorizing prescription refills as directed

h. Calling in prescriptions as directed

i. Proficient in manual blood pressure

j. Appropriately administer injections

  • Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions, answering questions
  • Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment and test results
  • Generates revenue by recording billing information of services rendered
  • Assists with ordering supplies
  • Keeps supplies and rooms stocked
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance and daily cleaning and sanitizing of exam rooms etc.
  • Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and other requirements
  • Enhances health practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Maintains professional and positive team relationships and work environment
  • Other duties assigned by the Team Lead

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Must be computer literate
  • Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
  • Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistance certification preferred
  • Experience utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • Frequent use of hands
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Must be able to speak clearly, see, listen, and hear

a. In person speech

b. Telephone

c. Other remote speech

d. Vision clarity at approximately 20 inches or less
