Function:To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women. FATE/FOCUSS is a small classroom setting (less than 10 students) that serves students with established behavioral challenges. Essential Functions:Assist in screening, evaluating, and recommending placement of students into the school's specialneeds program.Diagnose the learning abilities of students as a member of the evaluation TEAM.Plan a program that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of assigned students as a result of the TEAM evaluation process.E mploy instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives ineach student's educational plan.Be responsible for writing educational plan for assigned students enrolled in the special needs program.Assess the progress of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.Provide written quarterly reports to parents of students enrolled in the special needs program.Meet with parents of assigned students in the special needs program, on a regular basis.Assist in the integration of all special needs students into the regular classrooms.Serve as a resource to the classroom staff about students with special needs.Complete attendance forms as required.This is for a behavior based classroom.QualificationsRIDE Secondary Special Education CertificationStrong experience working with students with behavioral, social and emotional challengesRIDE certification 9-12 in any content area (Math or Science) preferredESL RI certification preferredKnowledge and the ability to teach students in the areas of math or sciencePrevious experience in a special education behavioral classroom preferred
