Trailer Service Apprentice $ 1 6 Hour Spartanburg , SC

Monday Friday 8 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM $

This is a Temp-To-Hire Position

Description : The responsibilities of the mechanic apprentice include inspecting Semi-Truck Trailers , performing basic repairs, ordering parts, and taking inventory.

As the mechanic apprentice, you will be working under our experienced Mechanics to learn the trade and advance your career.

To be successful as a mechanic ’s apprentice, you should be good with your hands and have strong attention to detail .

Duties :

• Replace tires.
• Perform daily tasks as assigned by supervisor- move trailers around the yard.
• Perform routine part changes- hoses, tires, mud flats, marker lights, etc. all Training provided.
• Assist Service mechanic when necessary to assist in repair of trailer .
• Assisting in a variety of duties on trailer y a rd
• Familiar with power tools & hand tools .
• Perform electrical work such as : Marker lights, wiring & troubleshooting, etc.
• Performing standard mechanical repairs, such as changing brake pads.
• Learning repair techniques under the supervision of the mechanic.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Perform vehicle preventative maintenance as outlined.
• Maintains records and appropriate documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or other members of the management team.

Requirements :

• Diligent, punctual, and great attention to details.
• Welding or fabrication experience (preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems preferred .
• A completed certificate or diploma in auto mechanics may be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of mechanics.
• Physical fitness and stamina to stoop, crawl, work laying down,
• Willingness to learn to become a Trailer Service Mechanic (Training Provided)
• Must have strong logical thinking, analytical skills, problem solving skills, and organization skills.
• Must be able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team. ·
• Must be a self-starter and willing to take the initiative, able and willing to work without direct supervision.
• Must maintain a clean, efficient work area and assist in keeping the shop neat and organized.
• Lifting Ability up to 70lbs .
• This is a Temp-Perm position. The Company has a high desire to hire on permanently
