Position: Controller

Reporting to the CFO, this role will be instrumental in improving the speed and impact of the Accounting & Finance team, while upleveling the reporting, internal processes and controls, and documentation of core functions. The Controller will be responsible for the Company’s accounting operations, including producing GAAP based financial reports, and managing the team of accounting professionals. This role will have a hybrid work schedule with the expectation of in-person attendance in our North Jersey headquarters.

The Controller is responsible to:

· Manage and oversee all financial activities, including accounting functions and reporting of accrual and GAAP basis financial statements

· Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including creating and posting prepaid and accrual journal entries

· Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and compliance with state tax laws

· Oversee and guide the accounting team with support of accounting principles and industry best practices

· Establish and execute internal financial controls and separation of duties to maximize protection of assets, policies, procedures, and workflows

· Manage budget preparation and financial forecasting, and track key metrics

· Confirm that all accrual accounting allocations are appropriately made and documented and in charge of all account reconciliations, accounts payable, and tracking revenue and accounts receivable

· Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for cost reduction

· Coordinate with external accountants and lead the annual tax and audit process (workers comp, 401k, and compliance), as requested

· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings (sales and payroll)

What experience we are seeking:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred

· 10 years of experience in accounting, including accrual accounting, billing and multi-state payroll

· Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accrual accounting

· Work experience in a fast paced and high-growth company, with specific responsibilities in revenue recognition and close processes

· SaaS business and billing experience preferred

· Excellent Excel skills

· Experience with QuickBooks Online

· Experience with SalesForce, Maxio (formerly SaaS Optics) and/or Avalara, a plus

· Ethical, trustworthy, dependable, and accountable

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Detail-oriented and takes pride in a record of accuracy

· Ability to find new and improved ways to do things

· Ability to organize tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines
