Extra Care Concerns: Medical Office Receptionist
The medical receptionist provides assistance to patients, doctors, office employees, and other individuals. This employee helps the clinic run smoothly by scheduling appointments, greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, maintaining accounts and records, and other tasks as needed. From the moment the patient walks through our door or calls, they should feel like a part of the family. Whether in person or over the phone, you are typically the first face or voice our patients will see or hear. Your role in this process cannot be overstated!
Receptionist Responsibilities
  • Greet clients and visitors in a polite manner, offering your assistance
  • Notify employees of visitor arrivals
  • Answer, forward, and screen phone calls and general email inquiries
  • Assist with various daily operations, including making copies, sending faxes, taking notes, and scheduling meetings
  • Sort and distribute daily mail and package deliveries
  • Prepare meeting and training rooms as needed
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe reception area
Receptionist Requirements
  • Must be able to multitask effectively, critical time management skills necessary
  • Understanding of basic healthcare terminology, will educate on job
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Excellent customer service skills; demonstrated ability to interact with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance companies alike
  • Familiarity with a variety of computer software, including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superb multitasking and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a team
