Workshop is Hiring an Internal Communications Manager Near Omaha, NE

Internal Communications Manager
Job Description
As our first internal communications hire, you will have an exceptionally unique, strategic, and visible role within Workshop's brand. Our company exists to support and elevate internal communicators, and this "mixternal" role will be tasked with helping create more happy Mondays for our own employees and making sure we actually walk the walk when it comes to comms.
You will help us build and execute our own internal communications strategy, shape our content and resources, and provide invaluable feedback to our sales and product teams all along the way. You will also be the voice of internal communications in and outside of Workshop, including hosting our webinars, speaking at conferences, talking on podcasts, and presenting to the company.
This position requires working very collaboratively with the rest of our marketing team, as well as partnering closely with our leadership and employee experience teams. In particular, you will hold us accountable to one of our company's core values ("We communicate with intent"). Our organization is very fast-paced, flexible, and transparent; you'll be communicating with a hybrid team operating in and outside of the office.
Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000, depending on experience
Applications close: July 15, 2024
Targeted hire date: August 2024
As the Internal Communications Manager, you will:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive internal communications strategy for the organization, including key messaging, communication channels, and tactics (with an emphasis on email and text messaging)
  • Create and deliver internal communications content, including email updates, newsletters, intranet content, videos, and presentations
  • Work with key organizational stakeholders to ensure all internal communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with our company's goals and values (especially "Communicate with intent"!)
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communications, and make recommendations for improvement based on feedback and data analysis
  • Represent the company's internal communications externally as a thought leader, including hosting webinars, speaking at conferences, sharing on LinkedIn, and participating in podcasts
  • Showcase transparency in internal communications practices by offering industry insights on what is and isn't working in internal communications and sharing best practices and lessons learned with the broader community
  • Partner closely with the marketing, leadership, and employee experience teams, and provide feedback to sales and product teams based on your internal communications expertise
  • Identify opportunities to increase employee engagement, improve internal events, and help create more happy Mondays for Workshoppers
To be successful at this position, you'll need to have:
  • 3 years of proven work experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related field
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent public speaking and storytelling skills
  • Experience managing and maintaining internal communication tools (internal email software, intranet, etc.)
  • Experience with content creation and delivery, including email, newsletters, intranet content, videos, and presentations
  • The ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the organization
  • Knowledge of best practices for internal communications
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working collaboratively with marketing, leadership, employee experience, sales, product, and customer support teams
Bonus points if you also have:
  • Experience managing an internal communications team
  • Experience managing internal communications within a variety of different organizations, industries, and company sizes
  • Proficiency with Hubspot and WordPress
  • Hands-on experience with SEO and web traffic metrics
  • A background in marketing and/or employee experience
Compensation and benefits:
  • Highly competitive compensation
  • Healthcare
  • Stock options
  • 401k
  • Unlimited vacation
  • Flexible work environment
Internal communication is incredibly special to our organization, and we're thrilled to 1.) be able to have a dedicated role for it so early, at just 60 employees, and 2.) to offer the industry more transparency and showcase what is and isn't working in internal communications in practice.
