Director of Labor & Delivery

Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000 per year

Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Must-Haves:

1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Two years of experience at a Director level
3. Registered Nurse in North Carolina or Compact state

Nice-to-Haves:

1. Knowledge of community hospital and midwifery model
2. Experience with level 2 nursery / NICU (or above)
3. Master’s degree

Your Role: As the Director of Labor & Delivery, you will organize, direct, and supervise the functions of the OB unit, which includes five Labor & Delivery rooms, 15 postpartum beds, and a one-bed level 2 nursery (NICU). You will ensure that policies and procedures are followed, maintain safe staffing levels, ensure adequate supplies and equipment, and manage efficient patient throughput. Your role will also involve developing, implementing, and managing the department budget, engaging in ongoing quality and performance improvement, and investing in staff professional development. Additionally, you will ensure employees complete all required annual competencies and communicate important information to the CNO and other senior leadership members as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

• Overseeing the daily operations of the Labor & Delivery unit
• Ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures
• Managing staff scheduling and maintaining safe staffing levels
• Developing and managing the department budget
• Leading quality and performance improvement initiatives
• Providing professional development opportunities for staff
• Communicating effectively with senior leadership
