Job Title: Data Center Systems Engineer

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Duration: 6 months CTH

Interview Process: 2-3 video interviews

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Linux, have built out their own servers, and have a background in break/fix operations for both hardware and systems within a data center environment. This individual should also possess extensive data center lab experience and prototype development expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Linux:

  • Deep understanding of Linux, have built out their own servers.

Break/Fix Operations:

  • Perform timely and efficient troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of data center hardware and systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to servers, storage, networking equipment, and other data center infrastructure.

Data Center Lab Management:

  • Manage and maintain the data center lab environment, ensuring all equipment is operational and properly configured for testing and development.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of new hardware and software solutions in a controlled lab setting.

Prototype Development:

  • Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to design, develop, and test prototype systems and components.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements based on hands-on testing and analysis.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including detailed logs of issues, resolutions, and parts used.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, uptime, and areas needing improvement.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to data center operations.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance data center efficiency, reliability, and performance.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center operations, with a focus on break/fix for both hardware and systems.
  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining data center lab environments.
  • Hands-on experience with prototype development and testing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in liquid cooling systems used in data centers.

Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for hardware and system analysis.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods and working in confined spaces.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily operates in a data center and lab environment.
  • May require occasional on-call work and availability for after-hours maintenance or emergencies.
